Perturbative expansions in quantum field theory and string theory are often factorially divergent, signalling the presence of hidden non-perturbative sectors. In this talk, I will review a body of work connecting the resurgent, arithmetic, and modular properties of certain perturbative series into the framework of modular resurgence. If time permits, I will describe examples from topological string theory and quantum topology.
